FAb cafe, though the beach itself needs an injection of life. This place could be sooo much more. A little run-down.

Best little beach in the world great for surfing muppets. Great cafes, clean and its all free apart for the cafes.

I'm right on the waterfront opposite Maranui Cafe so I'm totally biased, but Lyall Bay is gorgeous. There's surf (sometimes), a fantastic cafe (Maranui) that do great brunches and one of the best milkshakes in Wellington. There's also the airport right next door so it's nice watching the planes come and go. One end of Lyall Bay beach is dogs...

A favourite with everyone. Nice sandy beach, good for surfers, nice wide footpaths, good cafes nearby

This windswept, airplane buzzed beach is not a great place to go unless you're going surfing. Although the Maranui Cafe is awesome for brunch on a clear, not-so-windy day.
