.....but there was a fantastic array of freshly squeezed juices and delicious homemade icecreams. The local farmer's market is my first stop, wherever I'm traveling, to taste the true flavour of the area. A good place to visit but only has available loacl produce so a bit limiting. Nothing like a "coke n chips" for the kids so that limits it's family appeal. A bit pretentious to differentiate prices for "localvores" (whatever one of those is) and "others". I assume I am an "other" so pay more for some stuff from a kitchen... More

The Marlborough Farmers’ Market is a one-stop shop for anyone who wants to track down and taste the local food. I’m addicted to the Pinoli pine nuts – grown further up the Wairau Valley, plump, sweet, full of flavour. They leave the supermarket imports for dead and CHEAPER too.
