I love the water. The cafe there is alway good and the outlook great. Getting there is not the best as the Earthquake carnage is all around. Worth the effort though and I find myself going there weeky

You have to go over the hill to get there, and once you are there you could be 100 miles from a city, except you're not. Only the more recent mausoleums at the top of the hill remind you that there are other things beside clear water, surf (very good surf on its day), sand, blue sky, and dry hills....

This is a sheltered beach (much better than Brighton or Sumner) which is popular with surfers and swimmers.
