if you like free stuff then this museum is the ducks nuts , i was prepared to pay on arrival but was pleasantly suprised to find it free , there is a great section about the early settlers and how they got to NZ on the ships with a replica cabin complete with dimmed lights and rocking lantern with sounds... more

Some nice exhibits here which are free. As i'm not from New Zealand i was only interested in seeing the New Zealand historical stuff so only saw some of the exhibits. But from what i could see there was a lot of other things to see and do. I paid a bit extra to see the butterfly exhibit which is... more

The Otago Museum is a fantastic place to spend a rainy day if you are in Dunedin! It has a good cafe, and is in a lovely old building down by the Uni (between the 2 one-ways, off the park on Albany Street.
