Well organised, beautifully maintained train and platforms. Wonderful way to spend a lazy afternoon jigging along the tracks and the scenery is spectacular.

We booked this trip through their web site and paid about 40% the price that our cruiseship was asking. The main difference was that with the ship you board a different train that picks you up at the dock, We had to take the bus to town, pick up our tickets waiting for us and had lots of time to... Went on this trip over Easter and found it quite enjoyable. I feel that the trip certainly is aimed at international tourists so if you are on of them this is an attraction for you!!! The narration is very informative but as a New Zealander it is all very plain sailing and you can almost predict what is going to... More

Thank you for your review of our train trip. We were pleased to hear you enjoyed your trip with us and that most of your feedback was positive. Currently about 65% of our passengers are from overseas and 35% from New Zealand. This has remained quite similar for the last few years. We try to please all our markets and... More

Dirty Windows spoiled the view and felt the trip was a waste of time. Could have done as well driving some of the roads into other canyons.

Many thanks for this great review. Customers comment that after driving around New Zealand or sitting on a coach it is so relaxing and enjoyable to take a train trip. On our train you can walk between the carriages and get on and off at the sightseeing stops and view the scenery from the 10 or so viewing platforms throughout... More

Thank you so much for this very helpfull review. Customers tell us that this is one of the best attractions to experience wonderful autumn colours while relaxing in a comfortable warm train with the scenery ever changing. So many people come to our Dunedin Railway Station booking office saying they did not realise that there is so much to do... More

I am not a train fanatic, however, this was a wonderful journey! The sun was shining and the train wasn't that full so you could stand outside on the platform on your own and take in the sights whilst feeling the wind in your face! A little expensive, however, I fully appreciate the cost to keep this railway line in... More

Hello - thank you for writing a review about Taieri Gorge Railway. I love this review because it is exactly how I would describe the trip - standing on the open air platforms with the wind rushing by is such a wonderful way to experience our train trip. Although the cost for the trip might appear to be a little... More

This was a comfortable, simple return trip to nowhere. The historic train travels thru a not-so deep and not-so-awe-inspiring gorge, there are no particular sights to see, except for the construction of the trestles in a few places themselves. Maybe we all missed the point, but my family all agreed that just about every other afternoon in New Zealand had... More

Hello and thank you for taking the time to review the Taieri Gorge Railway. Although we think the scenery up the Taieri Gorge Railway is breathtaking and many of our passengers also think so, we certainly realise that some people will think it "not so spectacular'. Everyone has their own personal tastes and likes and it is good to see... More
