We did the Skippers Canyon Jetboating Adventure as an alternative to the generic Shotover experience. More down to earth genuine experience with locals - don't go if you are paranoid and about heights and narrow roads however - the jet boat ride itself was the best I have done. Queenstown has so much to offer all ages, but we had a marvellous tour to Skippers Canyon with Wolfie and would give it ***** stars. He was so knowledgable about the history of the canyon, about the personalities who live and have lived there and is an excellent driver!!. We went to Skippers Canyon with Nomad Safaris and it was truly excellent. I had tried to back out because i am terrified of heights but was persuaded to go and was so glad i did. We told the driver i was afraid and he went out of his way to reassure me and drive so that i was comfortable.... more

We visited Skippers Canyon to enjoy a jet boating ride but got a great bonus when we took the ride up there. A narrow one track road lead us along 100m cliff drops and from the window of the 4x4 bus it looked as if we could tip over any time which of course added to the conversation and tension... more
