We had a wonderful trip with Milford Sound Airways. It certainly is THE way to see Milford from Queenstown. It was the best day of our month long tour of New Zealand in February this year. The experience blew us away. more

We took a fly-cruise-coach tour with Air Fiordland. The mini-plane flight from Queenstown to Mildford Sound was very scenic. We saw Arrowtown, rivers, lakes, snow capped mountains, even the snow of the mount up-close. Then the first view of Milford Sound, wow! You must experience it to know it. We did the fly/cruise/fly option. There's also a bus/cruise/fly and a bus/cruise/bus option. If you haven't done much driving in the New Zealand mountains, then the bus/cruise/fly option might be a better value. We were blown away by the scenery on the 30 - 45 minute flight to Milford Sound. The journey was in many ways as good or better... more

We did a fly in/cruise/coach out tour of Milford Sound - flying from Queenstown. The views from the plane were absolutely stunning, as were those from the boat and the bus trip out of the sound. If time is short, I'd recommend flying both ways as the bus trip takes 5 hours. more
