we walked around Lake Wedouree and came to the gardens. The glass ouse was exceptional even if the woman did apologise as the display was closing that day and she felt it past its prime. I was frankly still amazed by the begonias!

We spent an enjoyable couple of hours here, although I can't say the gardens were any better than those we've visited in many other Australian cities.
The botanicals in Ballarat are a lovely setting next to the very popular lake wendouree. It is very nice to walk through, which ends next to the war memorial. However, it is on the recovery now from many years in a extreme drought that saw lake wendouree completely dry up for over 2years!
These gardens are a delight, very well presented. We spend about an hour looking around and would love to return one day. great lake background
Its not really up to much as a botanical garden, Plants and trees look a little neglected, nothing is labelled, although its in a great setting near the lake. Its fine to walk through around the lake but it doesn't measure up compared to other places.
Beautifully maintained gardens. Love the 'Prime Minister's' walk.
The gardens, are a pleasant oasis, to spend some quiet and relaxing time just strolling around and enjoying nature. Some lovely statues, and an interesting gift shop.
Well kept gardens with a wonderful avenue of sculptures of Australian Prime Ministers and how long they were in term. There is also a hot house with an impressive begonia display. Well worth a stroll.
The overall structure of the gardens are very pleasant to the eye.
I was impressed that a regional botanical gardens was maintained at such a high standard, on par with many city ones.
A nice touch and addition to the gardens are the statutes of former Prime Ministers of Australia. There are also statues within the grounds of Greek gods...

Although the drought of previous years took some toll on some of the larger trees in this garden, it's still a beautiful, refreshing place to visit, especially on a warm, sunny day.
