Twice a month, a Farmer's Market is held along the banks of Lake Wendouree. Although this market is not huge, it is always worth a visit. during our last visit, we noticed rowers on the lake. Rather them than me!!. That particular day was not exactly boiling hot. Still, it is good to see the lake full of water again.

You dont go to Ballarat and not go to Lake Wendouree. It's picturesque and worth a run, ride or walk.

The come back of Lake Wendouree 2011 brings memories how it was years ago and its first drought happened right after my Springtime wedding 2005! Currently progressing for the rowing competition plan with the feel and state of nature's wildlife around, installed with kids at heart playground, BBQ centre, Tram rides, toilets, restaurants, walking tracks, opposite of Ballarat Botanical Garden... This artifical lake is huge, supports a diverse wildlife, has a walking path right around it and at the end that boasts the Botanical Gardens, the Tram Museum and the Adventure Playground has a wonderful cafe which does lovely meals and coffees. Something here for anyone who has an outdoor/exercise interest. The mature trees surrounding the lake provide plenty of... More

If you're tired of cafes and want something nice outdoors come to the lake. Has a great playground too. It's huge. Went for a walk and didn't get the whole way around. Watch out feeding the swans...they're not scared of anything or anyone and one snatched bread right out of my hands!

The lake has a walking/bike riding track all around for the energetic along with an all ages playground. You can hire paddle boats and bikes that carry six and take a ride on a period tram ($5.00pp). There is a delightful licensed cafe that overlooks the lake that also has a takeaway window for snacks and coffee. Across the road... More

Nice to walk around. Botanic gardens adjacent are lovely. There's a few good little barbie/picnic areas with tables and seats. The kids love feeding the swans. Stop off at the LakeView pub for a coldie half way around. Tea rooms opposite the botanic gardens are nice. There's a tourist tram that operates part way around the lake. It's really a... More
