Mum and I came up to Warrnambool for the weekend and decided to come to Flagstaff Hill again.
We were fortunate enough to receive our own "private tour" by an amazing volunteer named Ron who plays the town priest.

With 180 wrecks along the coast line this area is Australia's maritime heritage capital.By Day - Take a voyage through the multimedia theatre before arriving in the Maritime Museum to see Victoria's largest shipwreck collection. Then explore the state heritage listed site with original lighthouses, Warrnambool garrison and 40 heritage building and wharf area.By Night - Take the last voyage of Loch Ard in 1878 as approaches the Shipwreck Coast. Australia's most dramatic wreck is recounted through a $4m sound and laser show that is the highlight of your trip along the Great Ocean Road.

I attended the night time Sound & Light show with my wife. We had dinner at the restaurant before the show (recommended) and then enjoyed the presentation very much.
Very informative and entertaining. Suitable for people of all ages so certainly bring the kids.

The colder months are a great time to visit. Our open fires and home made soup and scones are a great way to warm up the belly.
There are lots of special offers currently in the region. look up "free to escape" in any search engine to see some great deals.

Was very impressed with the historical context and layout of the site. Brought alive the local history, in such a way that it was easy to explain to young children, how early settlers lived and worked.

The sound and light show is worth a visit. Great way to hear the amazing stories of the Shipwreck Coast. The village is well set out and quite interesting for the whole family. Kids can explore safely.

The Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village displays shops and buildings reminiscent of the 1870's. As it is located on the shipwreck coast, the included museum concentrates on the many ships that were lost along the coast. The nightly evening lantern walk and laser show details one of the ships. Entry price is amazing - $39 for a family, which in view of the price of similar history parks like Sovereign Hill, is an absolute bargain.
