This is the 2nd time at Ngatea gardens,so it obviously holds some attraction for us.We arrived at 10.30am and were the only ones there for 30 minutes. The gardens are nicely laid out and it is easy to walk around. There are many unusual trees and plants with many of the trees having identfying labels. The lake, footbridge and waterfall are also... More

Is an attraction all of our family members have visited for years. It is getting a little dated now, they have to take care not to rely on their reputation/history for business but update what they can. The Gardens are pretty but suited to a very sunny day, wouldn't want to walk them in the rain.

We would go back and recommend for a visit, some of the exhibits are rather amusing and is in a lovely setting, a great place for the family and to have a laugh.

My family from Auckland and ourselves from Tauranga met here today. So many of these type of places prove to be a disappointment but this was the exception. Extremely well laid out gardens and well kept grounds are great to meander around. The quirky signs meant we had a smile on our face the whole time we were there. Entry... More

Ngatea's a definite stop. About an hour from Auckland; this small village has lots to offer. Ngatea Water Gardens is lovely; shouldn't be missed but don't forget the Gem Factory and the best new/used bookstore around - A-Z Books. Both feature extra ordinary quantities of materials/supplies that you will be delighted and surprised with. Lots of historic buildings. My daughter... More
