Loved the tour of the brewery and be able to try all their beers.
You get to see a short film about brewing - interesting, but could have been made better/ more in depth - and then the 30-minute-taster session... It really WAS interesting comparing the different types of beer and they taste decent enough (I don't normally like beer)... When in Greymouth, why not pop in and have a gulp ;-)
As has been previously stated there is currently no brewery tour, which disappointed my partner, but quite frankly I was only in it for the beer tasting, so I was happy. We got the dinner and tasting deal which was great value!! The lady who ran the tour (unfortunately I have forgotten her name) was very informative and we enjoyed...

This tour was included in our trip so maybe should not complain but it would have been nice to have known that it is not a brewery tour any longer but you are shown a video and then come the very small samples and a full glass of your choice, if you are touring south island skip this and do...

We visited in December, 2011 during the time of Monteith's renovation. I had looked at their website prior to our arrival where it was clearly explained that the actual tour was not in operation but the sampling room and overview were still open. From the information on their internet site we also opted for the tour and dinner package even...

Spent 2 days in Greymouth and dined at the Speights Ale house Resturant. Was great, the food and service was wonderful. About the best place to eat in Greymouth. Had lovely Blue cod which they cook 3 different ways. Husband had ribs which were very good with all the trimmings. Staff friendly and service was quick. Went back the second...

Enjoyed the experience of the various beer tastings, but disappointed that the brewery tour was not operating due to refurbishment. Adverts did not make it clear that this was the case.
They are currenly updating so we basically watched a 15min video and tasted beer. Value for money was quite good as we did get good samples and dinner at a local pub for $25 each.
Unfortunately the brewery is in the process of being rebuilt, so there isnt a chance to actually wander around and see how things are done (thats ok, we did the Cascade in Hobart, so we at least knew what was happening, and were really there for the tasting anyway!), but you do at least get a good DVD with the...
