The first evening we drove the short distance to Uluru for the impressive sunset view, but saw no wildlife. The Milky Way and all the southern constellations were clearly visible in the night sky as there was no light pollution in the desert outback. The next morning, we watched sunrise at Uluru from the sunset viewing location, getting good views... more

Last December, Mum and I were lucky enough to experience Wayoutback’s 3 Day 4WD Safari. Our adventure started out very early on a wet Saturday morning (not fun after a ‘few’ drinks the night before) and we headed off in the direction of Uluru in our big 4WD bus. Our first stop of the day was the Camel Farm for... more

I initially wasn't very excited about taking 2.5 days out of a 3-week vacation to go see the "rock," but I was blown away by Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park. I took several tours including the morning and sunset walking tours, but the best experience of the whole Australian vacation was the Astronomy Tour by EcoTours. You will be in... more

The Dreamtime stories are very interesting about Ayers Rock. The sunsets and sunrises in the Red Centre with the changes in light and colours are beautiful. Take the base walk (8kms in circumference) if you are adventurous or a shorter walk particularly in the summer months to see the Aboriginal paintings and other formations of the rock. The Climb was... more

Hired a car in Alice Springs and drove to Uluru on June 8, 2008. Uluru (or Ayers Rock) is a UNESCO world heritage site in the south of the Northern Territory, Australia. The rock itself is sandstone, and around 200 miles from Alice Springs (the nearest large town). It is located in the Kata Tjuta National Park, and is the... more

We spent 3 nights in this magical setting. After flying into Ayers Rock, we rented a car for later return in Alice Springs. Our days were spent touring the perimeter of the Red Rock and visiting the cultural center. Then a long day trip to Watarrka National Park for a stunning hike through Kings Canyon. The final day we scaled... more

Its difficult to "review" Uluru, a destination I know so well and is so close to many of our hearts. All I can say is everyone, especially Aussies, should make the journey and discover this magical landscape for themselves as it is a very personal experience. I recommend visitors book a tour as there are so many fantastic operators offering... more

We only had 2 nights to spend out here but it was well worth our over priced room to make sure we included Uluru as part of our trip. We took the "ranger tour" of Uluru and it was excellent - she was so knowlegable. We did Kata Tujta all on our own and that was even more amazing. We... more

No we did not climb... but enjoyed our time at Ayers Rock just the same. This place is spiritual and moving. We stayed in Alice Springs, rented a car, and drove into the park. Several hours of Australian desert/wildlife was the scenery which builds you for the grand event of the rock. The fees are well worth it and the... more
