Wow - Greeted at the base of a sand dune and led to the top for a sunset view of Ayers Rock whilst sipping on Champers and nibbling on fresh canapes. Once the sun sets, we are led over another dune and down a path to our very own dining room in the desert. Lit by low lamps and a... more

We arrived at the Voyages compound late in the afternoon and when checking into the Campground the receptionist confirmed our pick up with the SoS team which was earlier than we thought and left us less than an hour to park up, get out campervan sorted and ourselves ready. Don't underestimate how early you are picked up as we did.... more

This is a unique place, and the surroundings are spectacular, but I couldn't help feeling that although the well-meaning tour operators were great, and were trying their best, it was all done a bit 'on the cheap', with bits of tough kangaroo and tasteless food served up by a cheerful, but careworn Sheila who sooo wanted to go home, however... more

The evening begins when you are collected from your hotel by coach, usually around 6pm, but this depends on the time of sunset. Ours was the first pickup, so it was a bit of a bore as we had to go round the other hotels getting other guests, but someone has to be first! A ten minute ride brings you... more

You shouldn't miss it but there are too many people for it to be a deeply spiritual experience. The food was surpisingly good bearing in mind how many they are catering for but the best bit is the stars more

For the traveller, touring and sightseeing activities in Australia are generally not inexpensive, but this is prohibitive. I was there at the wrong time of year, when it is furnace hot, and flies are everywhere - avoid Feb/March. The staff were unenthuastic, the food choices were so so, and the commentary about the night skies was less informative, more wow... more

I guess I should have known before I booked it. It's on too many people's must-do list. It felt crowded, and being more of the adventurous type, I would have preferred eating a quick bite and actually getting to see the sun go down on Uluru or Kata Tjuta (you're too far out to really get to enjoy it from... more

Attended Sounds of Silence Dinner in late November 2008. It was a perfect evening. Felt like we had won a "Survivor" challenge! Great sunset, champagne, company, etc. Did not have any problems as mentioned in a previous review with disorganization. Everything flowed perfectly. Food was good, star gazing was truly majestic and hardly any bugs. Would recommend to everyone...a not... more

We took part in this experience in late October 2008. We did not really know what to expect but it was great. Drinks and nibbles as the sun went down then we were shown to our tables, you are free to choose were you would like to sit . We had four different nationalities on our table truly an international... more

I have been waiting to write this review since we completed this "experience". While a number of reviews and the guidebooks make this out to be a once in a lifetime experience, we found this to be overrated. Way overrated. Be prepared for a 4+ hour experience as you leave the hotels at ~ 6PM (after an unorganized wait to... more
