Yes, the sand really is that white, and made of silica. It squeaks when you walk on it. White sand, crystal blue water and glorious weather! Must return to Airlie sometime soon!

The scenery at this beach is superb. Unspoiled sand, turquoise water, unique and stunning amazing sand bars. Powdery white sand.

the white beach and fishies. The food and trip was very entertaining and the snorkelling was great too. Wasn't too excited about the jellyfish tentacles but luckily didn't get stung. Phew

The sand is 98% silica and the finest, softest sand I have ever felt between my toes. A beautiful beach, what every island paradise should look like.

The staff, itinerary, equipment and food. Bang on, better than expected. This is not 5 star but neither is the price.

Whitehaven Beach is absolutely stunning. However I did the day trip with Fantasea from Airlie Beach to Hamilton Island and Whitehaven which had a lot of people and average food. When we got to Whitehaven, they gave us each a sun shade, which was very helpful because it was bright and I would have gotten sunburned, but when trying to... More

Went to Whitehaven beach on my boat trip on the amazing habit, it was simply stunning. It was raining the first time I went but it didn't matter, there was rays and sharks swimming right up to your feet. Was so beautifully I got back on the boat for another two trips and every time I went to the beach... More

Stayed on Whitehaven for around 4 hours on a glorious August day in 2011. Its a beautiful beach, with sand that squeak when you walk on it. However if you're on the west coast the long continuous coastlines of Western Australia are definitely on par with Whitehaven.
