About
The Lismore Visitor Information Centre is currently closed. The award winning Lismore Visitor Information Centre is much more than a visitor centre - it's an experience! Our aim is to be a link between visitors and the rich source of environmental, cultural and economic resources in Lismore, Nimbin and surrounding villages. As Lismore is on the doorstep to Nightcap National Park, the centre features an indoor rainforest, designed to give visitors a taste of what they can experinece in the region. We have an Aboriginal Art Gallery, which provides local Northern Rivers Indigenous artists the opportunity to promote their artwork and offers visitors to Lismore an opportunity to learn about the area they are visiting through some of the local Aboriginal art. We have a large retail section specialising in unique, locally made arts, crafts and produce. There is an array of sumptuous gift baskets which you can buy pre-made or have one made-to-order.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

How ridiculous that Lismore doesn’t have a visitor centre. What’s wrong with is city ?
Even small towns have such a facility. Where do visitors find up to date information on attractions, accommodations, restaurants etc ?

Note that this Centre recently closed, so no visitor information is available in town. Smaller visitor centres in nearby towns, so check out the web for locations.

This centre is now permanently closed. There are some maps on notice boards but that’s it

It’s located near the river and there’s a lovely park nearby.

Plenty to do in Lismore just not at the information centre 😊

When we arrive in a new spot for the first time we always seek out the Tourist Information Centre for the most up to date information. However the centre at Lismore was closed due to COVID19 safe distancing. Unfortunate.

Dropped by to get a book and a postcard of the area. It’s quite a good shop and the counter staff were helpful.

Such a great park for kids to have a break during road trip. Even little train to ride around the park!

Thank you for your kind review! We are happy to hear you enjoyed Heritage Park right next door to our Visitor Information Centre. We hope you got the chance to come inside the centre and experience our exciting Indoor Rainforest Activity which educates children (and adults) on the local flora and fauna of the Northern Rivers Region. We look forward to welcoming you back soon.

A bit of information available on the various activities in the area, but the information center is clearly geared up mostly to sell products to visitors rather than be a focused avenue for tourist information.

Thank you for the review BenGenn, and for taking the time to visit our Information Centre. Being such a creatively diverse and rich agricultural area, we show some focus on the local arts and crafts of the Northern Rivers Region, supporting our small businesses, artists and growing producers. Within the Centre there are also comprehensive information board displays highlighting places of interest, an art gallery, and an indoor rainforest paying homage to the World Heritage rainforests situated north of Lismore. We also have free copies of Lismore and Nimbin Visitor Guides, Dining Guides, Arts, Vintage & Retro Guides, Tourist Drive pamphlets, National Park brochures, Lismore City and surrounding area maps as well as an active Events Calendar. We hope to welcome you back to our region again soon, and assist in making your trip to the Northern Rivers most enjoyable.

Situated next to Heritage park & the miniature railway the visitor centre is perfectly placed to grab some tourist info to browse while the kids have a play at the park.
Public toilets are located underneath the building & there is a little rainforest walkthrough inside the centre with an activity sheet for kids to find certIn animals as they walk through.
The range of gifts is lovely & you can also buy yourself a cool drink if needed. It’s a great little centre worth popping into if you need tourist info.

Local information centres are a great place for local maps and information on places to visit as well as local produce. Lismore does all this and more with an interesting walk-through rainforest display, I got a bit of a fright at the end - keep your eyes peeled...
Great select of fluffy Australian souvenirs. Display on the history of Lismore. Lots of local knowledge with the lovely lady in attendance drawing me a pathway on their local giveaway maps.
Next door is a tiny heritage railway with train rides and play equipment, great spot for a rest.

Great range of local goodies. Helpful staff to assist with gift purchases or local touring info. Not only do they have the usual maps, guide books etc & staff with local knowledge to help with tourist needs but they also stock a great range of locally made goods so you can purchase items to take home as mementos of your visit or just restock items often only found at local markets. We often shop for Christmas hampers & find it very easy & convenient. The recipients of the hampers loved them.
