The owner of the camp, Steve Thompson, has taken money from a large group of us (over $2000 from 10 people) who decided to cancel our reservation a month prior to going. One member of our group had been to the original camp and had excitedly encouraged us all to plan a trip there, and after seeing the photos Steve... More

This group reserved a week to come to the surf camp by signing booking forms which has certain conditions, terms and agreements. One of the clauses of this booking agreement is that deposits are non-refundable. All of the individuals signed and agreed to this while at the same time paying a $200 deposit. Unfortunately, the group decided not to come... More

There are a whole lot of mixed reviews on here, so I thought I'd chip in my part. Here's the deal: The camps have separated. The previous camp was in front of the surf break Emily's - this is a DIFFERENT CAMP. The new location is on its own beautiful and isolated island. If you are looking for a stunning... More

The Pacific is a place I’ve wanted to go to all my life as long as I can remember as a small kid. While in the Med,I had been looking at working in the sport fishing industry in the Pacific since last year this time. I had heard about Panama, a country in Central America, which is famous for its... More

Facts about the surf camp are slippery things. If I hadn't heard from a friend of a friend before I went, my expectations would have been quite different from the reality, because much of the information online is outdated or misleading. That having been said, we had an amazing week at the surf camp with outstanding guides and fellow surfers.... More

I have visited Morro Negrito 4-5 times in the last 5 years. Being a local surfer, I can tell you that this type of operation in Panama is very hard to come by, in terms of wave quality , price and comfort. Every single trip has been worth remembering. My friends and I can't get enough. Steve Thompson (the owner)... More

The owner mislead our group completely. We were 29 people - he had us stay in a location he called the new surf camp - which had only 5 chairs for our group. 1 bathroom which always backed up. 1 shower which was essentially open air. The pictures are NOT what you get. We were told cabins - were given... More

I was at the surf camp during the days that this group came to the surf camp. We were in the process of a camp renovation, so tents were required for a few days. These tents were very comfortable tents and brand new, never having been used previously. They were very cool in the day time due to the large... More

I've been surfing Panama Surf Camp run by Steve Thompson every year since 2005 and I'm still very satisfied. Its still a shlep getting there - 5hr bus ride from Panama City so if staying in the city for one night makes more sense then Steve can recommend a hotel which offers discounted rates for his campers around $45 a... Airport taxis and transportation are provided by independent business people, not by the surf camp. Most of the time, these airport pickups and bus transportation work extremely efficiently. Occasionally, there are delays due to a mechanical problem, flat tire, etc., Most of our customers are very sympathetic to these situations knowing that in Latin America, the road are not the... The waves and staff were good but there were 35 people in the joint camp run by Steve(from the mainland) and his son and ex-wife. There are three bathrooms. I am not complaining. Just the facts. The group of people all got along well. We had fresh fish twice, we stayed for three weeks. Some of these reviews sound a... More
