A step back in time with all of the charm and history (but none of the beheadings). The entire town is picturesque, well preserved and should be included in any itinerary through the Czech Republic.

The town is really a cute little story book medieval village & easy to wander around (NOT easy to drive around). The Vltava river does an S curve around the centrum, w/ the castle across the river and on the hill. All is so quaint w/ plenty of cafes, restaurants, pubs, & souvenir shops.

We went to the castle a few times during our stay, we didnt pay to enter the castle. we just walk around the castle and garden. you can take a lot of nice photos from here..good enough, unless you want to view the castle rooms and etc. We went during the day and also the night just to get the...

Okay so Europe is all castles all the time and many can be a bit of a letdown. Or maybe the ol 'seen one, you've seen 'em all'. This is a must see while in Cesky Krumlov, even if you go just for the view of the town from here. We did not go into the paid areas, but did not feel that we missed out because of this. This a a lovely castle, interesting to visit and the gardens are beautiful.

The castle is huge. I didn't pay for the tours but you can get up to the high tower - which offers quite a view of the rest of Cesky Krumlov. You can walk around most of the castle without a fee, and there are many spots where you can take stunning photographs of the historic centre. Worth strolling through....

The castle is closed on Mondays but the grounds are open and free. The view is absolutely stunning. Wow!
