We took the train from Prague out to Kutna Hora in just over an hour passing much farmland and gray communist-era housing developments as well as some of the more modern housing built in the last decade or so. Kutna Hora is a small unremarkable town with an enormous Phillip Morris plant at its center. The smell of tobacco was... more

We took a private car and that was great. We could do the sights as we preferred. This place is creepy and there were a few people who just couldnt cross the threshold of the building. The town is nothing special. If you can get to Czechny Krumlov and its castle that is worth the trip. Prague of course is... more

Take a train from Prague to Kutna Hora and then take a local smaller commuter train. Get off at the first stop and follow the signs to the Kornice (ossuary). Then view a room full of around 40,000 bones displayed in various patters...including a chandelier. One might feel that this is in bad taste, but the displays are to simply... more

The bones of 40,000 people have been used to decorate the Bone Church in Kutna Hora. I had expected something religiously themed, gothic perhaps. However, nothing prepared me for the overwhelming kitsch-ness of the place. Bone-bunting strung across the ceiling, the bohemian coat of arms made out of bones and an enormous chandelier featuring every bone from the human body,... more

If you have a few days in Prague and you feel the need to get out for just a few hours you could do worse than taking a train for about £5 return and travel the 40 miles or so from Prague to Kutna Hora to see this unique church. We did this ourselves, and not as part of a... more

The Ossuary in Kunta Hora is an amazing place to go. It's a quick day trip from Prague. We took a specific Kunta Hora tour that also included the Church of St. Barbra. They ask you to pay a small fee at the ossuary to take pictures but it is completely worth it. Next time I go go Prague I... more

My wife & I did a day trip minibus tour from Prague. The driver was a maniac; people were shrieking and crying with fear. Repeated requests to slow down had little effect. I complained to the tour company, who said they contracted for drivers. The trip was much longer than expected, even at breakneck speed. The Bone Church was the... more

My wife and I recently visited Prague (September 2008), and decided to investigate the Kutna Hora ossuary we had read about. A two hour train ride into the countryside and we found ourselves captivated by this beautiful middle ages town. The bone church is feted as a highlight, and it is well worth the visit, but the real value is... more

The Bone Church is about a mile away from Kutna Hora and definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. It's not particularly big - no where near the scale of the Paris catacombs - and consists essentially of one room. However, you'll find the bones of thousands of people within arranged in various "artistic" and creative ways.... more

The church is small, but it is worth a short train trip from Prague. It's close to the train station and fairly easy to find. I wouldn't recommend taking the bus into Kutna Hora, as it is a very roundabout way to get there. (But it is cheap.) When we were in Kutna Hora, there wasn't much else to do... more
