We really enjoyed our visit to this museum. It took about an hour to an hour and 1/2 to go through and read all the signs and look at the displays. The signs were in 6 languages. Though the space itself wasn't as big as some traditional museums, they really spaced everything well and it helped you see the journey... more

It was a bit tough to find the museum as the actual building that contains it doesn't have a sign on it. Instead, there are just posters on various light poles in front of the building that you have to look for. Ironically, the Museum of Communism is located in the same building as a casino and right above a... more

Well done museum. Not expensive at all, and ironically, you have to veer left from a Casino to get there. Lots of statues, and small exhibits. Most striking was the Communist School Classroom, which has been reconstructed to show what a school around 1970 might look like, complete with propaganda. This museum won't eat up much time during your day,... more

As others mention, this small museum is difficult to find its a 5 minute walk from Wenceslas Square and the Old Square on Na Prikope, ironically postioned above a huge McDonalds! The museum costs 180 CZK (about £5.20) and is divided into; The origins of Communism with a bit about Marx, Lenin and Stalin. The Communist Dream, The Reality, The... more

This is a "must see" for a depiction of what life was like in the former Czechoslovakia during the years of Communism. It's easy for a current visitor to lose sight of this given all the bustling commerce in Old Town and Wenceslas Squares. Although the museum is small, it brings this dark period to life and gives one a... more

We spent the day walking around Wenceslas Square and the National Museum (with the still visible scars from Russian tanks), and then went to the Museum of Communisim. We didn't have any trouble finding it, because we were on the lookout for both a McDonalds and Casino. The museum is quite small, but filled with lots of information. I was... more

Wow. As others have said, it's very moving to experience this museum. Took a few wrong twists and turns to find it, but it's well worth the effort. The video is going to get to you, be warned. more

Well worth a look if you are interested in the Czech Republic’s communist past. The information boards include English translations providing information about Marx, Lenin, and Stalin, the arts, sport, and propaganda during communist times. There is also a video with sobering footage from the Velvet Revolution. Probably allow at least an hour to look through. more

Visit this museum to learn of the rise and fall of communism in the Czeck Republic. See footage of troops in the main tourist areas in Prague as well as of the Velvet Revolution -- the direct confrontation of the crowd with the police - including "plain clothes" police. Shunned by the local people who have disgust for this period... more
