We've just returned from Prague and if I can pass on one tip it's this: DON'T pay for entry for things! The Hradcany (castle) is very interesting but after queuing for 45 minutes, paying £15 each for a ticket and an extra £15 for an audio guide, we realised as we walked around that pretty much everything is free anyway... more
We went in May 2009 for a long weekend, and were in Prague on May 1st. Was a bit busy, but the Old Town Square and the walk through the pedestrian streets filled with little shops across cobble stones was like being in a fairy tale. The Charles Bridge is spectacular and the walk up to the Castle was beautiful.... more
It is the best time to come to Prague and walk to Prague Castle and surrounding Castle district and enjoy fairy tale winter conditions. Snow and frost wil last full week! See photographs from today Monday 16th of February. more
Hradcany is the best area of Prague for walking and getting lost in the maze of streets. There are small alleys everywhere, views of Charles Bridge and the Castle. There are also very good views of Mala Strana, Petrin Hill, and Old Town. You can start at the top near the castle, or from the bottom by crossing Charles Bridge... more
