We had to shell out 160 CZK (2 people) and were completely let down by the experience. A piece of advice for future travelers: Skip the monastery which is undergoing major renovation until dec 2010 (according to information posted inside the library upstairs). In my opinion, it was not correct on their part to sell tickets when there is nothing... more

At the moment, not a lot of this attraction is visible. The church is locked, and after paying 80Kr to get to the libraries, one discovers that it is under major renovation for a year. There is also a 50Kr photography for the pleasure of taking a picture of the workmen. The staff lost the ability to speak English when... more

Don't walk up the hill from the castle to the Strahov Monastery unless you like the exercise - it's just 2 tram stops (on line 22) past the main castle entrance. Exit the tram and then go directly up the hill on the left side of the street. In my opinion, walking down to the castle from Strahov Monastery would... more

By the time we went there Strahov Monastery was closed. But we went down to the garden at the back which is opened to the public. And you could see the whole view of little quarter, old town, charles bridge. And I highly recommend it is the best place to view Prague. By the way there is a local bar... more

The library is a must see, it is amazing, but there is a problem; you can not see it. They charge you 80Kc for the entrance fee, you climb the stairs and see this wonderful hall of philosophy. However the hall is actually restricted for ordinary people. You can just have a sneak preview from the door to this amazing... more

We arrived there fresh from the exotic Charles Bridge with all it's artists performers and river traffic and Strahov Monastery has all you would expect and more. A photographers dream with so much distinctly different architecture, incredible Library, so many eye catching ancient pieces strewn around and the utterly spectacular view over the whole of Prague. This is a must.... more

The Strahov Monastery is on a hill above Prague Castle and is definitely worth a visit. The monastery itself is a fairly attractive baroque structure, and just next to it, you can get a wonderful view of Prague. The highlight, however, had to be the monastery library. Within, you'll find two GORGEOUS classical library rooms. Each is filled with books... more

Almost missed this sight after arriving when it was closed for lunch. However, after a brief walk to the the Loretta, we came back and it was worth it. Although it doesn't take much time to go through it, the rooms are spectacular. more

Strahov is conveniently visited after Prague Castle. Exit Prague castle and continue walking west and up the hill to the left. The Monastery brews beer. They have a small selection of styles but this is probably the best dunkel brewed in Prague. Beer is expensive by Czech standards but good. The food is simple Czech fare, sausages, dumplings, and reasonably... more

Up near the Castle, this quaint yet sizeable former monastery is an undervalued jem in the gorgeous city of Prague. There are several components, each of which is valuable one its own. The chapel - excellent condition, but I was only able to see it through glass doors as it was closed at both times that I went. Stunning use... more
