This 13th century former convent now houses the collection of medieval central European religious art belonging to the national gallery. The collection, which consists of many carved wooden pieces and also some wonderful altarpieces and paintings, is stunning and deserves at least three or four hours to do it justice. The convent buildings provide a perfect exhibition space for these... More

A wonderful collection of church art, but I was all alone in the whole museum, its a pity! In the last room I ask - where are all the tourists, and what an answer was? They are drinking beer outside! I recommend everybody visit this convent. Its not a convent any more, but a wonderful collection of art. And very... More

I never knew I could enjoy medieval art so much but I stayed here about 5 hours looking at every piece and taking pictures without flash. I particularly enjoyed some of the commentary on how the style of the various madonna statues and pictures evolved over the years.

This venue for medieval art, part of the National Museum in Prague, was inspiring and stunningly beautiful. It was, however, difficult to find. Once we entered we were surprised and quieted by the vacant adjacent churches with their cavernous, unoccupied and unadorned space. It was starkly beautiful. The upper floor of the space has a remarkable collection of expressive Madonna... More

This was the best day of our visit to Prague, and it is one of the best art museums I have been to anywhere in the world. My only regret was that we didn't realise how huge it was, so we failed to arrive as soon as it opened at 10 a.m. We probably spent about six hours in the... More

Convent itself is historical and has a lovely Gothic chapel. But the real reason to go is to see the collection of Medieval artwork now owned by the National Gallery. Not a lot of big names, but some wonderful sculptures, paintings, and print (some Albrecht Durer and Lucas Cranach the Elder).

Exhibition of the National Gallery in Prague housed in the beautiful Convent of St. Agnes of Bohemia on the banks of the Vltava river. In 1233 five Italian nuns from Assisi entered the convent. Agnes, sister of King Wenceslas I, was first abbess of the convent in 1234. We enjoyed the collection of medieval art in Bohemia including Bohemian panel... More

In my opinion, this is the best art collection in the City of Prague and you shouldn't miss it unless religious art isn't your thing.. The collection is extensive and is beautifully displayed in a very old building that was a convent founded by St. Agnes hundreds of years ago.. Although photos are not allowed, the gift shop has copies... More

a very rare extremely beautiful place...this place is a lot more than a museum.. the building itself is a maze of old medieval churches, and the collection of true master pieces is presented in such a nice way ! hardly anybody goes here, but make sure YOU DO !

Skip it. Firstly it is quite out of the way and hard to find. It is more of a museum/gallery then a convent. The convent part is just a bunch of empty rooms and the gallery part is mainly just pictures/sculptures of Christ on a cross and the Virgin Mary (they all seem to be of the same era as... More
