Nearly 700 hundred metres long, Wenceslas Square represents the most frequent and buzzing crossroads of the city. The National Museum in the upper part of the square watches over your spending spree in countless shops and retail stores lining the entire square, which ends at Na Příkopě, the most famous shopping street. When tired or broke, you can explore the city's underpasses, which can take you to the Old Town or to the courtyards of art nouveau houses with secret gems of greenery, white benches and rose bushes that provide unexpected peace in the midst of the city. Be sure to pay a visit to the traditional cafés, classic Czech pubs, cinemas and theatres. National Theatre near the river has a lot to offer to foreigners. Go to the river bank and enjoy live music and drinks while watching a sunset behind Prague Castle.

Beautiful old cinema with two screens. The main one is famous for its decorations similar to the best theatres. It's a typical old school place, including the seatings, which could be more comfortable.

Kino Lucerna .
Kino means Cinema , Movie Theater.

Kino Lucerna is the oldest cinema in Prague. Showcasing the old grandeur of Prague. The name comes from the location in the Lucerna Passage. So popular with locals, dating back to mid 20th century. Surviving intact the communist era.
For me, it truly defines the meaning of travel back in time.

I keep promising myself to find the time to see a movie there, unfortunately always run out of time. Who goes to movies, while traveling ?
With better planning I think I will, next time !

This is an open air rooftop bar, accessed by an paternoster elevator, which requires quick reflexes. The Prague views from it are not nearly as good as what you'll see at Višegrad or the Strahovský klášter, and the "Cherry Orchard" is pitiful. There are only few low seats, poorly matched to the high tables. All in all, the place seems neglected and poorly maintained.
We have not been there during their musical sunset concerts-- perhaps the music makes it all better, but it is unlikely that we shall find out any time soon.

Kino Lucerna is located in Pasáž Lucerna. Kino is not the only interesting thing in that pasagge. If you go all the way to the end od the passage, on the left before the exit there is a paternoster lift (the non stop running elevator) for two people at the time, which will take you all the way up, to the rooftop, which is open every saturday, sunday and monday from 3pm till sunset. There is a small bar where you can get a drink while you're enjoying the view. If you are planning a trip to Prague, i highly recommend you checking a YouTube channel Honest Guide, where i found a lot of different places and interesting things in Prague.

Traveling in time - behind this non pretty looking building there is one special cinema theatre. Interior is beautiful, same is caffeteria upstairs. Enjoy movie night like you were in the beginning of 20th century. Every cinema ticket can be used as a discount at caffeteria. So forget about big modern cinemas and visit this place instead. You will not regret it.

Today we were freezing around the city so we decided to go to the movies and watch the orient express, since we missed that in my city.
The cinema is beautiful, has many chairs and the price was very cheap at 129czk.
We had a nice time, even though the temperature could have been a bit higher inside.
Overall wonderful experience which I hope to soon repeat.

Forget about the big movie theaters, and pay attention to those amazing "local" theaters. Kino Lucerna is an experience in itself, totally worth. Been there a couple of times, and there's always a film festival going on. The place is small but soooo beautiful! There's also an interesting café outside, where you can have a glass of wine while you wait for your movie to start or simply enjoy a coffee with friends on a cold afternoon/evening.
Have recently been to their Jeden Svet (One World) film festival about inclusion, and totally recommend watching at least one of the many movies available.

We were not sure that we want to see a movie while travelling, I mean you can do that at home, right? Thank God we were tired from walking around so much so decided to go for it. Absolutely worth visiting! It is like a theatre inside, so beautiful we even thought that we mistaken the entrance. Also nice to watch movie in its original language on the big screen. Back in Moscow it's quite hard to come by. So of in doubt don't be, go for it. Marvellous!

Whenever I'm in European cities I seek out the old movie houses. It's a great way to break away from the standard tourist path, relax, and be immersed in a historic setting that still functions like a regular place. You get away from the architecture and object as a museum or artifact, and into the flow of culture that is valued, maintained, and utilized, instead of mothballed and dead. This cinema is among my top choices along with the Tuschinski in Amsterdam. Only problem here is that it is not as easy to find English language options.
