We had a short flight from Budapest to Prague and asked the car service (www.transfers-prague.cz) if we could combine an airport pickup with a visit to the Terezin Concentration Camp followed by a dropoff at our hotel in Prague. Since it was an early morning flight, we would spend a few hours at Terezin and get to the hotel in... more

This almost intact Nazi German concentration camp is a soboring but highly educational experience. The prison was and is a "regular" 18th and 19th century town that was walled in and packed with Jewish and E. Europe prisoners . The daily life and horrors of camp abuses are preserved in exhibts and barracks rooms. The art work and attempts at... more

Last year I travelled independently to Auschwitz-Birkenau, however I would advise going with a tour guide to Terezin, as the areas of interest (barracks (inlcuding the hidden prayer room) and smaller fortress) are slightly spread out. Our group was led by Pavel Stransky - a Holocaust survivor and his personal stories and memories made it all the more real. I... more

We used Wittman Tours for the Jewish tour and the Terezin tour. These were the best and most thorough tours we have ever taken. The Jewish walking tour was with a Rabbi who was knowledgebale and friendly. The tour of the concentration camp was a private tour with an 86 yr old survivor of this camp as well as 3... more

Visited Terezin with an Aushwitz survivor, who had been sent to this transit camp. The stories he told brought to life the horror that happened at this camp and other Nazi extermination camps. It is a haunting place, made all the more distressing by the fact that it now appears to be an ordinary small town, with people going on... more

If you come to Prague, you must make the trip to Terezin. If you have children, especially, you must bring them. This place of horror and death cannot ever be forgotten, people must continue to come and see the depth of man's inhumanity to man. It is terrible to see Terezin, horrible to walk among the dead, horrible to see... more

Terezin is about an hours bus ride from Prague, and beware of the confusing timetables. Terezin itself is just a ghost town, and aprt from the attractions mentioned, there is little there. There are a few small cafes in the main coach park near the Fortress, but don't expect a full meal. You cannot say much about Terezin itself! more
