I was ambivalent about going but so glad I did. The first exhibit was a barracks recreated with artifacts the women prisoners actually used. That set the tone. Then you see places, without artifacts, andaimagine the degradation and deprivation. And the propaganda film designed to show the red cross that |\'all was well" within the walls. Later the museum back... More

Insight into how political prisoners were treated. Nearby too the town which had been turned into a Jewish Ghetto in the last war.

There is really big chaos in the terrms. Terezin is small city one hour by bus from Prague. It used to be a military fortress built in 18th century by emperor Josef II., who named it after his mother Marie Terezie - the big queen of house of Habsburg. So there is fortificated city! and beside of it - there... More

Much of the previous reviews have already talked about Terezin concentration camp. Admittedly, they are quite powerful in bringing the stories of history books to life, especially when you see the cramped quarters and mass showers, etc. But sadly, the town itself is pretty lifeless. If you're a huge fan of historical museums and consider this your one and only... More

We didn't do Terezin as part of an organised tour but independently from Prague by bus (the journey takes about an hour) This worked out well, because by the time we hit the concentration camp / ghetto, the tour buses had all left and we virtually had the place to ourselves. The town of Terezin itself (where the buses from... More

It is said "Lest we Forget" or we will be forced to relive our own history. Go to Terezin, See with your own eyes. Stare at the sign that says Work brings freedom. Realise the human tragedy that was alive in this palce. The film they show in the guards old film theatre is a must.....to listen to the statistics... More

This was my first time to a concentration camp or ghetto, and I used a tour guide company, and it was great, but I wish I would have used a private tour guide so that I could have lingered longer in the places that interested me most. We only got about 30 minutes at the children's museum, and I could... More

We decided to visit the Terezin Camp(Small Fortress) without a tour. The bus from Prague was very inexpensive, and comfortable. Upon arriving we visited the Jewish Cemetery in front of the grounds, and then entered and purchased a ticket that included the Ghetto Museum and Magdeburg Barracks as well. Unfortunately an English guide was not available for a couple hours... More

Poland has Auschwitz. Germany has Dachau. In the Czech Republic, visit Terezin, used as a concentration camp during World War II. It is quite a bit smaller than the other two mentioned but none the less gruesome when one ponders the thousands who were tortured and killed here. Those who left were sent to larger camps were the majority were... More

I went to Terezin while visiting Prague. We had a car so the drive was only 45 minutes or less. The trip was very informative, personal in nature, and educational. The tour guides were very informative and straightforward in answering questions, but because of the nature of the camp, I was fine with my 5 year old son visiting. The... More
