Ok its free to see however as we got there the clock was about to chime. There were so many people around it you could not see anything. Its different but at the end of the day its a clock
At the town hall in the main square, maller than the astronomical clock in Praha, it is just as fascinating. Instead of saints and angels going around two turntables at the top, it has images of workers - teachers, carpenters, nurses, chemists, etc. There are at least six dials which give various aspects of the time.
I didn't actually see this clock perform - like some British workers, the figures only move once a day (at 12 noon). But it's most wonderful. First built around 1500, it originally had the usual collection of biblical and allegorical figures on it, and of course the Sun went around the Earth. The Olomouc astronomical clock is on the north face of the town hall, which is right in the middle of the main (upper) square. The clock dates originally from around 1420, but the three-storey high exterior of the was remodelled in the late 1940s-early 1950s.
