I found the salt mines to be quite a disappointment. It was basically a trip into a mine (somewhat interesting, for a few minutes) and then a tour of grey stone carvings of religious figures. OK, it may be one of the top attractions in Poland, World Heritage etc. etc. but £18 to go down a salt mine? I've seen better natural caves for less! more
This tour is given a high rating and really lived up to expectations. It is 3 hours well spent and with an excellent knowledgeable and english speaking guide. From kracow main station take the train for 5z return. It runs almost hourly and takes less than 30minutes. The stop is at the end of the line and is called Wieliczka Rekny.
