This is a necessary visit when in Warsaw. The tomb is lit and guarded all day, and it is a very important pilgrimage for anyone who has family, friends, or a heart for those who died in battle.

Eternal flame, soldiers guarding - what's to say? Location is historically interesting, being the tiny remnant of a huge historic palace. Apparently there were plans (and allocated funds) to rebuild the palace, although it's hard to see why it would be worth the expenditure - there's a certain grandeur to the wide-open-space location. Well done, but not that much different than other tombs to the unknowns. Probably better than most since the Poles have a unique ability to do gorgeous monuments.

Constructed of the only surviving piece of the Saxon Palace after WWII. Somber and moving stay to watch the change of the guards.

I stayed at the Sofitel, across the road from the tomb of the unknown soldier, so i was able to watch many changings of the guard from my room late at night. The guards were always perfectly in sync and very disciplined. I found that the setting, on the square in front of the saxon gardens was just beautiful, and... More

Every other hour they have a guard-change. But sunday at 12, noon, the change is spectacular! Be there, and experience the formality and respect they have for the people that gave their lives for Poland and warsaw. Guards, soldiers, scouts, marching-band and flowers.
