We were fortunate to visit when the museum had just reopened. The galleries are light and airy and exhibitions are expertly curated. A courtyard alongside opening off the road is a good place to enjoy coffee and a light snack in the newly opened cafe.

The massive museum houses a fantastic collection which I only barely scratched surface of it. Some background research may make experience less daunting (lots of stairs)

This is a good museum, well presented. An earlier review said it was closed, but was open Sept 20 and I saw no notices.

Muzeum Narodowe in Warsaw has large and fantastic collection of art. From the ancient Roman and Greek items to 20- th century of Polish and foreign paintings. I spent 4 hrs there and I would advise you to keep this exhibition in mind next time you visit Warsaw. HOWEVER!!!!!! The museum will be closed from July 17th, 2011 till May... More

It's located in Jerozolimskie Avenue, you can get there from centre by bus, tramp or by walk (about 25-30 minutes). It's complex of two museums - National and Army. You have to pay 3 euro for visiting permanent galleries and extra fee for temporary exhibiotions, audio-guide is avaible. One day isn't enough to see everything, there is lot of things... More

There are presently seven permanent galleries. he Ancient Art Gallery presents artefacts of the cultures which had developed in the Mediterranean region. The Faras Gallery presents early Christian art, and the Medieval Art Gallery displays sculptures, panel paintings and gold smithery... More

You may spend the entire day at this museum, so you need to choose what you want to see. I would recommend the Polish Art and European Painting exhibitions. The most well-known works of the Polish artists are displayed; like Matejko and Chelmonski.
