We came here with my then boyfriend in 2003 and absolutely loved it. The whole idea about walking thru the laberynth that showed the various wine regions of Hungary, while testing the wine they had open, in little glasses (and then getting to take those glasses home) was the best idea ever. Since then we had told all our friends... More

If you know about wine then you should avoid this place, I took the most expensive tasting and the quality was very low, it's obvious that some red wine bottles where open for too long time. Prices in the Cellar are expensive, it is a rip-off place. Not including the "museum", it's also very limited, just few tools and puppets... More

We are serious wine collectors and expected a much more extensive tasting and greater value than was provided. For those who prefer to drink the wine rather than taste a number of varieties, I must say that the size of pourings was quite generous. We did not go with a tour group, so it was just us and the server.... More

Unimpressed. The cellars were not very interesting and the tastings were nothing special.

This museum is tucked away behind Buda Castle. One great thing about the Castle Hill is there are lots of little museums and interesting shops. One could spend the better part of a day just poking around the area. Once you reach the road behind Buda castle there are signs pointing out the wine cellar museum. The museum itself is... More

I had the opportunity to visit this awsome wine cellar, it has a beautiful lay out and you feel welcomed. With the admission you received a special wine glass that is yours to keep. The selections are from all around Hungary and cover the history as well as the "terroir" of the vineyards. After trying the wines I selected about... More

The staff was friendly and we have a great time in there. We only tasted the wines and they were great! Was a short visit to do something different. The host told us all about the wines that we tasted and he showed us in a map the different regions of each wine.

Located in Buda Castle where there are numerous attractions (which have been reviewed separately under their respective names) we read about the wine house in our LP guide and stumbled across the place. We commenced with a tour of the wine house and cellar before going to the tasting, the wine house was empty at around 1pm and we walked... More

The wine tasting was very nice here. Our host was quite knowledgeable about wines in general and Hungarian wines in particular. He also spoke excellent English having done an internship on wines in California. The great thing is that the museum is free if you buy one of the more expensive wine tastings. Otherwise the museum would not be worth... More

We got the 4 extra special wines and we asked to have only reds. Gabor, our host, had excellent knowledge about Hungarian wines and made excellent choices. He even opened a 5th bottle for us when we told him we never had tokaj aszu, which is the liquer wine of tokaj. All red wines were unique and frankly were the... More
