The 7 euros to go on the first floor is a total waste... you get an equivalent view from the ground floor cafe and a coffee too for 5 euros. The parliament building from this spot is a great photo opportunity and a must see. The lit up parliament at night gives a stunning view.

Wow, sounds touristy but we go there every trip. Not really that expensive to treat yourself to a drink on the terrace overlooking the Danube; with some great classical music in the background - a photo opportunity never to be missed also

Halaszbastya gives you the best opportunity to see Budapest from the top. Bastion itself is very nice, too. Castle Hill is accessible by feet, or by cable car coming from the river bank.

A place not to be missed in Budapest! Up on Castle Hill the Fisherman's Bastion is a beautiful neo-Gothic terrace with 7 towers that represent the 7 Magyar tribes that settled in that area in 896. It's named Fishermen's Bastion after the guild of fishermen that defended that stretch of the city walls in the Middle Ages. The views were... More

Walked from the funicular , saw the cash desks and dutifully paid, but then realised the best view is farther along, and it's free. ( go as far as you can along the bastion wall until you see a small tower. Climb this. There's a cafe right at the top, but no pressure to buy, though you could pat peanuts... More
