The Museum is located in the Buda Castle, probably the most important attraction in Budapest. My piece of advice is to start from the second floor where the history of Hungary is summarised in both Hungarian and English languages in sequence, with all phases starting from Roman Empire and ending with the recent exit from the Soviet Block. I had great hopes for this museum thinking it would shed light on the history of Budapest as a city, but there were two major disappointments - 1) too much of the history is from medieval times and before, full of artifacts such as tablets, tools, ornaments, etc rather than a clear thread of a chronological story of the city...
