It looked the part from the outside, but after a 10 min queue for tickets (1100 florints per person) it was somewhat dissappointing. Over 3 floors but could have been on a single floor; and some areas closed. Hence would not recommend this being a must.

I could go in for free because I was a student. For some odd reason, a big section of the museum was closed. I could only visit a small part of the museum, but there wasn't much to see... Nevertheless I didn't pay for it, so I guess I can't complain much. But there are nicer museums in Budapest.

Huge stunning building. Lovely views and photo opportunitites from the outside. Don't forget to go right down to the bottom to see the oldest parts of the castle within the museum.

Entrance is 1100 HUF. Beautiful building, easy to get to by tram. English is heavy in room 1 (20 rooms in all, and you go in order), but as you go to room 2, English becomes less, and so on, and so on. They do have audioguides available, but they charge 750 HUF per hour. What really chapped me was... More

The Hungarian National Museum, near Calvin Square, in the centre of the city in Budapest, is located in a beautiful, historical building built in the classical 'greek temple' style. In 1848 this building was the focus of the Hungarian revolution against the Habsburgs. The Museum houses an excellent permanent exhibition reviewing the fascinating history of Hungary, as well as a... More

well, some nice exhibits are there telling you some information about the history of Hungary, but unfortunately not enough English comments are present that sometimes you get confused, so you can spend one or 2 hours maximum there, not more
