The synagoge was closed due to a Jewish holiday which was disappointing however we went on a free walking tour around the Jewish Quarter which was v interesting. The lady guide was fab and v passionate.

Its possible to turn up at the entrance and get tickets for the museum tour and Synagogue together. Very moving and you will leave a different person.

It's well worth paying to do the tour and visiting this very impressive building and hearing the history which is a very sad reminder of the history of the Jewish people. The guide took us through the synagogue and explained the history of the building and its architecture, of the Jews in Budapest, of the customs. She then took us... More

Very impressive and beautiful restored building with a disturbing history. The group needing an English guide was quite large making it difficult to hear everything the guide was saying, yet without a guide, you will miss the explanation of customs and history.

This is a beautiful synagogue, filled with history. Definitely go see it, and go on the tour.

I could appreciate only from outside. The construction is beautiful, but the period to visit is very limited.

The interior of the synagogue is majestic and its size impressive. There's very little else like it in the world. It was pricey, including the additional charge to take photos.

I didn't go inside as I disagree to pay money to go to a synagogue when other churches you visit are free. But I understand the business aspect as well. I just enjoyed sitting outside and enjoying the design of this place. Great for photos. Next to the hop on and hop off tour bus. Around many shops and restaurants.... More

The synagogue in Budapest is the most ornate synagogue I have ever seen! It is really dazzling and huge, and it is interesting to see a synagogue of this size. It's special and fascinating to see such a beautiful synagogue in eastern Europe and is definitely worth a stop.

That memorial tree in the courtyard is amazing and, again, quiet sobering and very touching.
