On our second day in Budapest, we headed straight to St. Stephen's after walking along the Danube. We were unable to find anywhere to eat along the way so we ended up eating at Bazilika cafe & restaurant right next to the basilica and this turned out to be the worst idea possible - our food was terribly salty, small... more

This is one many great churches in Eastern Europe--striking exterior and beautiul interior. It is the heart of the city with a large square in front. more

The Basilica is stunning inside, and the view from the panorama platform must be the best in all of Pest. It's well worth the small admission price and all the steps to get up there. And there are two elevators so even the steps are optional, but then you will miss the view of the top of one of the... more

The cathedral is a great site to visit. It was just a few blocks from our hotel (which was on the main Andrassy street) making it a very nice walk. We went in the early morning when there was hardly anyone there. It is typically nice but the best part is the very special relic. The cathedral houses the hand... more

It is so hard to believe that this church is just over 100 years old as it's ornate architecture suggests it is much older, but it's beautiful condition suggests it is much younger. The stain-glass windows are delightful, especially in the Jobb Chapel where you find the Holy Relic - the mummified hand of Szent Istvan that is 1000 years... more

Definitely one for the list of must sees! Take the stairs or lift (small charge for the lift) to the top for great views of the city. Inside the Basilica is beautiful and worth a look even if you are not a big fan of churches. The square outside is also a nice place to stop for a coffee and... more

We started our morning out early and got to the church before they opened. They unlocked the door at 9am and we walked around before there were loads of other people with us. We intended to go up to the top but that part didn't open until 9:30. The inside of the church is just incredible and just makes you... more

The facade and square outside of the Bazilika are breathtaking, but the inside is just as good. On the ground floor, you can see St Stephen's hand (a saintly relic). And the view from the top is absolutely incredible! more

The Basilica is in a large square. Thus, you can admire its grandeur from the outside as you approach the basilica. The open space gives you also the opportunity to take photo of the entire church. The inside is quite nice, altghough nothing so splendid. There is also a small museum with ecclestic material. A great plus is the elevator... more
