Pennies to get in, interior is AMAZING. Looked to be freshly restored. I was there on a weekend and while there were plenty of other people, it's a big enough place where you won't feel crowded.

The Basilica of Szent Istvan, the first king of Christian Hungary, is a beautiful neo-Classical building whose dome is one of Budapest's most famous architectural landmarks. The Basilica dominates the square in which it sits, and is full of fascinating details, from frescoes to altars to the mummified right hand of Szent Istvan himself. In the spring and fall visitors... What a beautiful church. We were lucky enough to hear operatic singers practising which made it all the more worthwhile.

A very beautiful church to visit but you must visit the terrace at the top for magnificent views over the city of Budapest in all directions. It costs 500 Florints to visit the terrace and it's truly worth it. We took the lift rather than climb the 300 plus stairs (even with the lift there are some stairs to climb... More

The evening organ concert with violinist, trumpet, plus a tenor and soprano performing classical music's "greatest hits" was very enjoyable and relaxing.

The place is huge and is a jewel of architecture. The details are amazing and the square in front of it is also very beautiful.

Its central draw is a bizarre artifact. Hungary's first king's mummified hand has been on display again since it was returned from the US. Unfortunately there is not much useful historical background and you have to feed the light to be able to see it clearly. It is, however, still worthwhile and interesting.
