Ehhhh.....its a 25 min ride out, no context, should at least have a picture of the statues back in day, so you can see context. Lots of great stuff to do in budapest...do terror museum and the free communism tour...youll gef much more from them

thank you for your comment on visiting Memento Park. We are happy that you still rated our theme park with 3 points although you did not think it was the best place you visited throughout your stay in Budapest. There is a guide book or guided tour available to all visitors upon arriving to the park. the guide book is... More

The park is simple, but we spent two hours there taking fun photos. If the weather hadn't been so beautiful, it might not have been as great of an experience. The statues are impressive but aren't labeled well. Thankfully we had a knowledgeable friend along who was able to give us some background on many of the statues. Otherwise, I... More

I love Budapest, but this was the best thing we went to see. This place gets no state funding, yet it preserves and teaches us about a time in history that should never be forgotten. Make the effort to get the bus out there, get a guided tour, buy some funny soviet souvenirs and try to imagine what Budapest was... More

We arrived at the wrong time to join a tour, so we purchased a guide book (1500 HUF). Really pleased we did, it's a brilliant guide to Hungarian history and easy to understand. The statues are quite something to behold and you can imagine how imposing some of them would have been in situe. The guidebook adds hugely to this,... More

Dear Visitor Thank you for your positive comment about visiting Memento Park, We regret to hear that you missed the guided tour. The guided tour is available every 45-60 minutes between 11am and 4pm, but people who arrive and just miss the tour also has the opportunity to watch our film about spy training first,-which you also recommended-and wait until... We went late in the day around 6pm and we only had an hour, but its not very large and since the sun was getting low it set off the statues with a lovely red hue (quite appropriate) and we managed to take some stunning photos. Its a great place to go, not busy and not expensive, (about 1500 HUF... More

Dear Visitor Thank you for taking time and writing your opinion and of course we do appreciate your positive comment on Memento Park. You managed to summarize perfectly what Memento Park is all about. A very peculiar space but worth the visit just to step back into time during the Soviet/communist years in Hungary. Essentially, a park filled with statues taken from across Hungary and now stored here on the outskirts of Budapest. There's a tiny memorabilia kiosk at the entrance selling quirky Soviet/Communist bits and pieces - a treat - and there's also... More

Personally loved this monument park. Just way they arranged the site is great. Still wish I knew what the weird UFO looking thing just beyond the park was. If you're a fan of communist era icons this is the place to go. My only complaint is how to get there. If you take their service, the bus only seats about... More

Dear Visitor Thank you for your positive comment on Memento Park. The weird UFO looking thing at the back was a water tower, quite large, quite strange but its still interesting to look at beyond the statues in the Park. Regarding the direct bus service at the weekends we order a larger couch which can seat up to 50 people,... More

This is a bit of a trek and our Time Out guide wasn't that clear on it's directions, but we are big 'fans' of Communist history so wanted to go to this 'statue junkyard'. The best option is to get the tram 6 or 4 to the end of it's line and then cross the road and get the 150... More

weird but wonderful, great photo ops. Easy bus from the center of town (go early it fills up) Great old statues of pinko commie dictators, great films of life under communism and surveillance culture. 20K agents recruited 50K assets to watch 100K targets. Who watches the watchers? If these guys saw our surveillance culture today they would consider themselves amateurs.... More

Like others here, I don't understand how anybody can post a negative review of this place. If you understand before hand that you are going to see statues that were collected after the fall of communism from the period of communist rule I don't understand what could be determined to be disappointing. Unfortunately for us the weather was miserable due... More
