This park is for those who are not looking for a cutesy experience. The location and general management are fitting for a monument to an era that created a grim and under-resourced backdrop to life. Think Soviet, and the slightly run down park in a littered wasteland with a kiosk shop and hot tea dispensed from a thermos is all... more

Visited this park in 2007, but sounds like not much has changed! The signs for where the dedicated bus is parked were not posted, but we found it when another bus pulled away and the little card in the correct bus's window was revealed; "Statue Park". The operators were amused at our triumph at finding the bus and welcomed us... more

The thinking behind Memento Park is inspired but unfortunately this tourist attraction has not been well executed. If you are inclined to go, by all means get the direct bus there - we went by public transport and it took us around 2 hours to get there. On arrival we were disppointed to note the Park is a bit run... more

So I have a weak for soviet culture, thats why I went to this statue park, which is advertised widely in booklets and maps all across town. The park itself is located outside of the city and indeed, it takes a while to get there. When you are finally there you have to pay, besides the entrance fee, a price... more

We went by the direct bus to Memento Park wich leaves from city center, Deák Square and took less than half an hour to get to the museum. It worth to choose this option, otherwise you really travel a lot. I have not been to Eastern countries during communism so I think it worth to see these huge statues at... more

This park is heavily advertised in many of the city guides in Budapest. (The city itself is fantastic BTW) My girlfriend and I spent 4 nights in Budapest, and I was keen to see Memento Park after reading about it in the guides, where it is advertised as a view of the Communist propoganda and imagery of decades ago. So... more

All of the reviews here are correct. It is fairly difficult to get yourself to the park (but if you come prepared, it's not impossible and worth the effort on a sunny day), the park is bleak just some old statues from the communist era (that were almost destroyed but rounded up and put in an obscure place so as... more

This museum is also advertised as 'Memento Park'. There is not much to see in the park, just about 20 statues that did not seem especially interesting. The park is in a fairly scrappy setting with building sites, houses and wasteland around it. For me, the highlight was reading the historical storyboards (in English) and watching the Hungarian espionage training... more

To the layman, you may be saying -- so what, it's just a bunch of statues. If you grew up during the Cold War, that's the entire point. These statues should have been destroyed. But they are alive. It's like walking into a time-warp. If you don't have much imagination, then skip the park, because it will eat up a... more
