Going to these baths is a wonderful experience in a glorious location. But you quickly realise that the majority of people here visit the baths regularly as a lifestyle, not a one-off experience. This is what makes it so special and for the 6 months that we are living in Budapest, we hope to make it part of our lifestyle... more
It's on of the things what you really should visit during your stay at Budapest. If you really wanna have a relaxing experience you should give yourself about 4 hours time for that. The bath offers several pools inside and outside and sauna's as well. You can reach the bath by the metro 1. more
After reviewing the spas in Budapest we decided to choose this one. Good decision on our part! The spa is huge - apart from the outside baths, there are tons of saunas, and pools of varying temperatures inside. I just wish I could understand a bit of Hungarian so I could understand why certain saunas and temperatures are good for... more
The Szechenyi Baths were a delight! The public dressing rooms provided enough privacy and no one really stares or has issues. There were more senior citizens than any other age group (probably partly due to the fact we were there on a weekday at 10am). It's clearly a social gathering place for people to meet up with their friends and... more
What a great place- as a female traveling alone, I felt safe here. There are many locals as well as tourists- No roving eyes, I never felt stared at. Everyone does their own thing. There is a variety of different temperature pools as well as saunas- one even goes up to 100C. There is also a beautiful outdoor pool and... more
We decided to pick Szechenyi Baths for our first Hungarian thermal bath experience. Getting to the Baths was not a problem, the Merto line stops right in the city park and then its a short walk to the baths. However, navigating through the baths themselves proved to be a little problematic - we were a little confused on where to... more
Great way to spend a few hours warming up outside in the warm waters of the spa. The buildings that house the spa are also architecturally excellent. We visited as a group and most hired a cabin (changing cubicle) for 3200 HUF about £10.00 if you stay less than two hours you can get some money back, just take your... more
I read carefully all the advice about baths and decided that Szechenyi Baths were the ones for us. Other posters suggestion of taking a towel was followed and so, on a very cold Monday morning, we walked along to the baths. It was a nice walk and enabled us to see Heroes Square. We entered the main (front) entrance of... more
The baths can be a confusing experience. We arrived and tried all four entrances, and sods law being the taste of that particular day, the entrance we wanted was the last one we tried!!! So when you arrive, do not go through the entrance at the front - the one that all the Hungarians go through, you'll wait forever! Luckily... more
