I only had a few hours in the early morning before my plane went out, so I thought I would dash across town to check out these baths, and I'm so glad I did! I got there at about 7 A.M., and there was nothing intimidating about it -- just me and a bunch of elderly ladies in the queue.... more

This is my #1 don't miss in Budapest and is so superior (and cheaper) than the more famous Gellert and other baths. This is mainly because of the size and scale and variety. There are a couple of swimming pools as well, one outdoor thermal bath, and many indoor and it operates year-round. It seems to be a place that... more

After 3 eye-opening, albeit very draining hours in the House of Terror, my wife and I headed to Szenchenyi baths to unwind. We arrived at dusk and paid for entry and a cabin. I forgot my bathing suit and had to rent one - something I never dreamed of doing. Thankfully, it was clean. The attendant who showed us to... more

We were debating until the last minute which baths we should visit and we are glad we choose the Szechenyi. We visitied "early" (9am) on a Saturday morning in September and we were glad we went at this time, by time we were leaving at noon it was getting very busy and quite packed due to the locals and tourists... more

Was good fun when we got in - locker system is very confusing but if you take a light hearted approach it's managable - take your own towels - you can get them there but they are tiny and threadbear - try the goulash soup - tastes fine and enough fat in it to use as suntan oil - we... more

This historic spa/baths is located in the large city park and was built almost 100 years ago. It has classic buildings and is the size of about 2 football fields. There are many bath, spa and sauna options all for one price, about $16 US. There are outdoor pools (do not miss the one that moves you around--just go with... more

The Szechenyi Baths were the first spa we went to in Budapest, and really didn't know what to expect, but we ended up having a great time there. There are two entrances, and because we wanted to use the pool, we walked around to the entrance near the zoo. You could probably use the other entrance for the pool as... more

Spent an amazing afternoon at the Szechenyi Baths during a recent trip to Budapest. What an experience! Countless pools indoors and outside at various temperatures are complemented by several saunas ranging from 40 C to 100 C. Not only was the afternoon relaxing, but the variety of accommodations allowed us to endlessly explore to find the conditions best suited for... more

Although the baths are relatively pricey (3000 HUF, about £10, although you get 300 HUF back if you stay only for 2 hours) they are in a lovely a building and gorgeously warm. Admitedly the signs can be a bit confusing as they are only in hungarian so here is a quick guide: Coming in the main door at the... more

We had been in Europe for 2 weeks, and the day at the bath house was our last before returning to the US. We had purchased a day of one of the "hop on, hop off" bus tours and received a discount coupon for a changing room at the bath house. We had been in Hungary for 3 days already... more
