Captured well some very disturbing history. Initially we tried to read the papers provided in English describing each of the rooms - would suggest skimming them to understand what is in each room, then concentrating on the room and its displays. You can read the details later.

I was impressed with the way the subject was handled, the arty way in which old records were used to decorate the rooms/furniture etc. The whole place had a really grim, scary feel about it and we learned loads about individuals experiences of this awful period of history.

Great museum with beautiful designed rooms! There are many tv-screens with real footage from that periode - but also well decorated rooms with equipment or information from back then. As a visitor you can get a glimp of the terror - but understanding the whole history is not as easy because the museuml could take more care for his international... More

This museum, located in the very building where horrific deeds were carried out in the name of fascism and communism, gives a real insight into events of the latter half of the 20th century in Hungary. From the ominous oil dripping from a (soviet?) tank to the crushing music that awaits you in the first exhibition room, it is a... More

To bad that they won´t set out signs in english. Interesting since we are from Raul Wallenbergs home country and the terrible history of Hungary, but hard to get a grip off since they just hand out A4 pappers on english on every room...too bad!

Summary: Worth seeing, could have been better organized, skip the audio guide. My wife and I were in Budapest for a day after having done a bike tour from Vienna to Budapest. On our bike tour our Hungarian guide had explained many aspects of life in Hungary during the last century including the World Wars and the Russian occupation. It... More

Well, I think, that this museum was average, because all text etc. were in hungarian. It seems to me, that this museum is pointed to classrooms.

Very well done - history demonstrated with an artist flare. loved the testimonies from the survivors. Makes you appreciate growing up and living in the Canadian prairies.

Every North American who has an opportunity to visit Budapest should take n hour or two to visit this attraction. It was an eye-opener for me. I came away from it with a greater appreciation for living in Canada. The House of Terror tells the story of Hungary's road to a free democracy. And it appeared to have been a... More

Very informative even if not all information in English. There were printed sheets in every room and subtitles for most films. Really should be seen to realise what the people went through. Stories and pictures of victims very moving.
