The museum itself is housed in an impressive structure, and is well located. It's a bit tricky to find, off a side street from one of the main avenues, and the signage is less than ideal. The security guards out front are a reminder that you're viewing something that pertains to the Jewish population in an Eastern European capitol that... More

The museum itself is located in a very nice neighbourhood of well kept buildings and cared-for greenery. We accidentally entered from the wrong end of the museum (the end) without realising it, as we didn't come here specifically to visit the museum, more or less just stumbled upon it. It was interesting seeing it in reverse, and we had no... More

Glad I visited here, I learned how so many innocent people suffered and how they lost their innocence and dignity. Worth the time for sure and I'm not Jewish!

This museum costs a lot, about $15AUD, and requires a lot of waiting to get in, because of security searches. The interior of the synagogue is worth seeing, but there is little more to keep you. We joined a guided tour that was very amateurish: the guide looked bored, was unamplified, and rushed through things as quickly as possible. The... More

The apt. I stayed in was across the street from the Holocaust Memorial in the back courtyard of the Dohanyi St. Synagogue. It is a great big metal weeping willow tree; the leaves are all inscribed with the names of Hungarian Jews murdered during the Holocaust, over 700,000 in all. Near there, in the same courtyard, is the area where... More

We went here on the hop on hop off bus. You have to get off as the bus stops for 15mins. this is not enough time to wander around and take in the fantastic views but as you cant reserve your seat on the bus this doesn't matter. There are lots of stalls, restaurants and sweet/drinks kiosks and a camera... More
