I went to Esztegom for the day just to get away from Budapest. I am very glad that I did. The Basilica is gorgeous and free to go in (just the basilica, not the crypt or treasury). The park around the church and the castle is also really nice and has great views of the Danube. As other reviews have... More

The Basilica is located just above the river Danube. It is quite big. It's beautif outside as well as inside. For the best shots of the Basilica I suggest a visit in the slovakian side of the river where the view is simply awesome!

I bought the combo ticket. In retrospect, I would have skipped the crypt, but I really enjoyed the treasury. The collection is an amazing collection from 6-7 centuries of ecclesiastical chalice, vestments, rings, etc. and had some labels in English.

The city of Esztergom has an important role in the history of Hungary and the catholic church and one of the sites to see on the capitol hill is the cathedral. The cathedral is a very nice building. There are many interesting sites to see: - inside and outside of the church - the cemetery in the church - the... More
