We were pretty disappointed with Sopron. It got good reviews as a lovely place to visit, but although the square was nice and there were some nice buildings, it seemed to lack any real atmosphere. It was completely dead on a Saturday late afternoon. If you are passing worth stopping for a quick stroll.

The fire tower is closed due to restorations. You can't really see the tower. Nobody could say when work will be finished.

Make sure you check before you go there. We made a special trip to the area to discover it was closed for repairs.
