I LOVED the trip to Devin castle. We took a picnic and had a beautiful day. The surrounding area is stunning, the castle is so interesting and not over run with tourists. well, my favourite castle is the Chateau de Chillon in Montreux...so that's a bit hard to argue with :) the fact that this comes in 2nd place therefore says a lot! the ruins of devin castle have a really romantic feel about them, and i like the area where the castle is situated as well... great views! very well-preserved, although... more
The Devin castle is a nice short trip from BRatislava by bus and it's certainly worth it. One tip however.. bring mosquito repellent, since we were there in july and we were pretty much eaten alive by the mosquito's there. more

Devin Castle's super-easy to get to by bus, as the Bratislava-Devin bus drops you off at the foot of the castle. There are English information posts around Devin Castle and it's a really interesting place with lovely views of the Danube, the Austria/Slovakia border and Devin village itself. more
Devin Castle is basically the remains of an old fortification - - long history of different culture/nations who lived in the region. However, from top of the castle you get great views of the river as well as a glimpse of Austria. P.S. The castle is basically the border between the 2 countries more
