Although we have been to Tallinn many times before to visit our son, we had not visited Maarjamae Palace Estonian History Museum (Maarjamae Loss). We did not have a car, but getting there was easy on a local bus that stopped very close to the museum. The displays are excellent and give a detailed and realistic history of Estonia's road... More

This was one of the most interesting things Ive had the pleasure of visiting whilst travelling around Europe. The exhibition charts the road to Estonian independence, and whilst not being blessed with tons of exhibits or artefacts from Estonia's history, there is so much to take in on how Estonian independence was gained and what the people of Estonia have... We stumbled across the Estonian History Museum by chance after visiting Kadroig Park and St Peters Palace and going for a walk along the Baltic coast from the Russalka memorial. The museum is housed in the Maarjamae Palace although from the outside it looks very run down and shut. There were also no clear signs that the museum was open... More
