Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Karariina Gild is in a historic and architecturally interesting building. It consists of a number of interlinked craft workshops where talented craftswomen make and sell their beautiful leatherwork, textiles, glass, ceramics and more. We came here twenty years ago. This time we showed Anni Kreem a photo of the patchwork bedspread we bought on that previous occasion. She proudly showed us a new bedspread and we were delighted to buy it. The workmanship is outstanding. We also talked to Eve Hintsov and highly recommend her leather products. We bought a number of items and will treasure them. This is the place to come for things that are beautiful, functional and hand-made by the people you meet.

Fine and intricate workmanship on leather makes the colourful wallets and eyeglass cases stand out from massproduced goods. The talented and versatile women of the guild introduced at the entrance hall who continue the ancient tradition make also hats, scarfs and jewellery. The premises of the workroom shops are also Medieval showing signs of past centuries on the walls and ceilings.

This place is great for someone who values quality and design. You get to meet the collective designers in their own studios. From jewelry design to hats ("hat-titude" spoken there), to textile works, to fine leatherworks, fashion, art, prints, ceramics and hot glass. It's a great way to support local businesses.

Working in their own shophouses several artisans form the guild along the narrow Medieval passage. Leather has been turned into interesting forms as modern penholders, there are also bags, bookcovers and small painted cases. Large patchwork covers hang on the walls, in the next room ladies are sewing felt hats by hand. Further down is a ceramic studio, a workshop for stained glass items and one room wonder containing a hot furnace, working space and shop for delightfull bright glass tableware.

Well worth going down this short passage, fully of history with the very large tombs from the 14th and 15th centuries. Also on the opposite side a number of handicraft artisans making and selling their wares. Including items made of wood, cloth and jewellery.

A nice walk through that is well worth a visit

Tombstones line the walls of this narrow street. This is a photographer's dream. Vendors set up tables in the arches and have the best prices.

It is a picturesque place which can be even charming, a narrow cobblestone alley which is perfect in summer with daylight, pleasant and calm place to drink a beer outside. I imagine that in winter it is not the best idea.

You cannot get lost in this Old Town, but it is not easy to find this place. Do it, and this place will remain in memory, as one of the most interesting in Tallinn. This short street, named for the Katariina church, connects Vene and Müürivahe streets, Just enter an Old Town via Viru gates and take a second street right. It is Müürivahe - "Street between walls". First of all, you will see a small market, mostly of hand knitted goods. Go forward and after the market you will see an ark on the left- an entrance to Katariina käik (St. Catherine's Passage). Go and discover this little miracle! Enter interesting shops, look left and right and breathe the air of history. And if it is a time for lunch, enter Controverto, one of the best and my favorite Italian restaurant in town.

That is what remains of the extensive medieval Dominican monastery in Tallinn, which was destroyed during reformation. And boy, what a wonderfully scenic place it is. You really have to make an effort to find it-it is just off Vene st., opposite Telegraaf Hotel. We had dinner at Controvento Restaurant there and would walk along this little medieval passage many times-always with great pleasure.
