For the age of the town, this wall is in remarkable shape. It is hard to miss once you are in old town.

I don't know of many cities that can boast and almost complete medieval town wall. Well, Tallinn has it and it really makes the atmosphere around here. Best places to see it from in my opinion are the Laboratooriumi street and the Tornide väljak or Towers' Square. Many of the town wall towers are open for visitors and definetly worth... More

Walked around the town walls. Even though there are lots of sections missing it is very interesting.

There are two different entrances to the Town Wall and I found the bit that literally only goes to the cafe but you still pay 2 euros to get within the wall on top of whatever you spend at the Cafe. Cafe could be lovely but drink served was not very hot and Id got fed up of keep asking... More

The old walls are very picturesque with wooden galleries (many of which house small cafes) and wonderful towers with conical tiled roofs. You can walk almost all of the way round the walls, both inside and outside the city and if you go at different times of day the light changes and gives new perspectives and vistas.

There is a small fee and it's not huge but you get a feel for what men went thru to live in their fortresses.
