Great place to watch opera and ballet. I watched Don Giovanni a great performance and a good night out. We had booked the tickets in advance on the internet before we arrived in Riga and we had no problems with the print out tickets. Most people were smartly dressed but no problem for those like us in jeans. There are... More

Book a show if you can - ballet, opera whatever you like. Prices are very affordable. You not only will enjoy the show, but also can admire the fine opera building

Was surprised how easy and cheap it was to buy tickets to Ballet and Opera from the ticket office. The performances were very good and sparkling wine was also cheap.

We were lucky to get tickets for an opera performance from the sold out 'La Bohème' just by waiting at the ticket office for someone to return unwanted tickets. prices for performance are very affordable. Very nice building from the cellar to the top balcony and really worth the visit. try the cheese cake during break!

Was surprised to see how cheap the tickets are, would never find prices like that in London. Modern adaptation, very powerful voices. Subtitles, so you know what's going on on stage ( in Latvian and English). Funny at times, three hours have passed really fast. Really enjoyed it!

Maybe not quite the right setting for our dear Carmen, but the setting of the Opera-house, the great orchestra and the opera singers made up for this experimental transfer of Carmen to Cuba where our Toreador suddenly becomes a boxer. Bizet would be besides himself, maybe its best to leave things where they are supposed to be. But hey, with... More

Went and saw "La Boheme" in early April. This was my third time I´ve seen it and it was still great. Don´t worry if the opera is in a language other than english. They have subtitles screens. Remember that the cheapes tickets are standing. Be sure you can stand for a couple of hours. Reasons for catching a show: -... More

Beautiful building, old world charm, very high standard of singing and playing without the elitist attitude you often find around opera at home. The production of Mozart's Don Giovanni was updated, not totally succesfully, to a modern cruise ship but this was more than made up for by the standard of the performance. We had the top price tickets at... More
