Visiting sites such as this needs very good informants. And were lucky to hire an informal guide called Alexandra who gave us all the historical information regarding this site. Try to find him where Riga Sightseeing bus begins and stops their trip around the city

It's great to get a view from the top on the old town and further out. Great to orient yourself before or after a tour in the town. We didn't have to queue but I imagine that you may have to in busier times

3 Lats, up a lift, walked round the top in about less than a minute including taking photos, only to wait for the lift to take us back down. Yes, there are panoramic views of Riga on a clear day, forget it if the weather is bad.
