I was stunned at how popular the Riga Zoo was. I arrived early on a Saturday morning, and there were already quite a few guests. By the time I left, the ticket line stretched on for about 150 feet! If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city take a short tramride on line 11 to Mezzaparks where you will find Riga zoo. It's not very grand but it's a quiet place (if you disregard the cries of the peacocks) in the woods around Riga. It has been partly renovated but not all the animals already... more
