Nothing to see if you are not the expert in questions of architecture. Even though it was warm, i did not enjoy our walk
Although it is only a street, but what street it is! Other reviews say it all: gorgeous buildings stand tightly together and make up what is widely considered the best street in Riga. Don't be lazy to look up and make out the details of the houses - they never fail to impress.
What a great street. Very short but incredible. Almost all buildings are different and catch your attention. I hope they can restore the whole street! It´s very charming and you should definitely go and have dinner there!
The buildings on this street offer an extraordinarily complete and diverse range of art nouveau architecture. Some are restored, some sadly crumbling but they are exquisite. Take time to look carefully at every detail. Visit the Art Nouveau museum housed in one of the buildings to see an art nouveau apartment complete with furnishings and décor. The museum also shows... Some of the streets it listed besides Alberta iela was Strelnieku iela, Elizabetes iela, Teatra iela, Skunu iela, and Smilsu iela. We had a great time walking up and down the streets looking at all... More

Historic center of Riga is inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage sites list because of its Art Nouveau/Jugendstil architecture, which is unparalleled anywhere in the world (more than 800 buildings), and its 19th century architecture in wood. Alberta iela is one the best arguments for the inscription.
One of the two major streets with Jugendstill houses (the other one is Elisabete iela nearby). Your neck may hurt after such walk as it is necessary to watch up for decorations and details all the time. Some of the houses still need restoration but it is a matter of time only.
Don't miss out on the art nouveau buildings in Riga. There is a museum at the end of Alberta Iela which will allow you to see the restored interior of one building with beautiful furniture. Take your camera and don't kiss out. You can buy guides at the museum to find out about other important spots but this is a... More
